Spring has sprung here in Hillsboro, OR, and we are excited to get out there and enjoy the warmth, budding flowers, and singing birds! So when you’re looking for something fun to do, the following local spring activities will guarantee a great time.
1. Jessa Campbell and the Saplings
Combining the love of music as well as ecology, this band highlights nature’s miracles through an entertaining show that engages the audience. Both kids and adults alike will enjoy the talents of the band. Tickets are just $5 if you buy them online in advance or $7 at the door.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Walters Cultural Arts Center, located at 527 E. Main St. Get a good seat by arriving early. Doors open at 1 p.m. If you need special assistance, such as wheelchair seating, please call 513-615-3485.
2. Hillsboro Farmer’s Market
Beginning on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the infamous Hillsboro Farmer’s Market will be back again! Since 1982, this event has brought the community together to celebrate the warming months. Buy locally grown produce from the region’s farmers, and support local artisans by checking out their goods.
Bring the whole family and grab a bite to eat from the concession stands in between browsing and shopping. You can also enjoy live music as you walk through the open-air environment. The farmer’s market is held every Saturday until Oct. 28 at 150 E. Main St. You can even explore the layout with the market app, located on their website.
3. Tidy Up Downtown Hillsboro
Show your pride for your community by participating in a clean-up. What better way to get a bit of exercise in the spring air than by helping to make your town even more beautiful? You’ll help remove trash and graffiti and even make new friends in the process.
The event is held on the first Sunday of every month, beginning April 2, and the third Monday of each month, beginning April 17. Meet at 9 a.m. at 346 SW Walnut St. The clean-up will end at 1 p.m. No reservations are required; simply show up and clean up. Be sure to hang around afterward for some delicious food.
